The Surf Life Saving Movement has created an amazing organization built on care for others, flavoured with an Australian sense of fun, health and character. Our forefathers and present trustees have forged a movement which continues to attract thousands of people each year to be part of this experience. Our continual challenge is to keep Surf Life Saving relevant to the times and to each generation whilst retaining those core values and experiences that have made it the icon it is today. The Floreat Surf Life Saving Club is on the crest of change and invites potential members and supporters to participate at a level they are comfortable with. We invite you to contact us for more information on how you can be involved at a level you would be comfortable with. If you are aged seven to seventy, enjoy good health and the beach or you would just like to support what we do, it is essential that you register your interest so that we may contact you in the very near future. Registrations for season 2010/11 at the Floreat SLSC clubrooms Existing member(s): Sunday 22nd August 1400 - 1800. New member(s): Sunday 19th September from 1400 - 1800. |

This group has been started by club members in order support open water swimming in the coolers months of year. The group meets on Sunday's at 10am at the FSLSC rooms to undertake swims of varying distances depending upon ocean conditions and abilities of the swimmers. The group is primarily social and operates at 'their own risk' when swimming. Following the swim and a warm shower, the group then enjoys shared morning teas overlooking the Indian Ocean.
What are you doing in winter on your Sunday mornings? Sure you might say…. sleeping in, reading the paper or gardening…. Have you thought of joining the Floreat Freezers? |

Girl’s boat crew entry Our first boat carnival is on this week end at Scarborough and we are looking forward to getting in the water against other clubs. This year looks very competitive with nearly 15 girl’s crews competing from other clubs up and down the coast. So this year looks like shaping up to be a exciting and competitive time for girls boat rowing. |

The Floreat Surf Life Saving has nearly 500 members spanning from 7 years of age to 70. These people come from all walks of life to train, patrol, compete and enjoy the family atmosphere that exists on one of the finest beaches on the west coast. The Surf Club has a heritage of over 60 years but today it is a reflection of the energy of its current members which have established it as one of the most progressive in Western Australia. Our principle objective is to provide surf life saving services to the community and to educate and promote surf safety. Why not come down one weekend and introduce yourself to a great bunch of people. You don't have to be a fantastic swimmer, all you need is enthusiasm. Need a venue for your function or wedding? Floreat SLSC venue sports 180' ocean views So close to the waters edge, one can taste the salt, smell the fresh sea air and feel the damp sand under foot. A two story functioning Surf Life Saving Club offering an uncluttered, clean and well maintained venue. Unfortunately it is not friendly to wheelchairs. The venue features a large dance floor, a stage area, carpet floor, kitchen, bar and then a balcony area that must be seen to be believed. Decoration is subject to the imagination. Bring in your preferred caterer and stock the drinks of your choice in our bar servery. We can help you out with soft drinks. Our kitchen facility is basic and provides for food warming and preparation. |

The club has competed at a National level in Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRB's) for many years now and a large contingent traveled to these Nationals that were held in different States each year. Floreat has more recently been supporting a small group traveling to Queensland to represent the club at the summer Australian Surf Life Saving Championships. Qualifying to compete at a National level is the ultimate reward and members of Floreat are encouraged to gain the skills to equip themselves to participate. |

The club will support any member, or members, who wish to take part in any interclub carnival. This is an area that the club is developing into with many of our younger members getting great results. Participation and enjoyment is the key.

Patrols are the basis of surf life saving - the reason for us being here. At Floreat we have set a high standard for our patrols, and this has been recognised over many years with Floreat winning the overall Patrol Efficiency competition on four recent occasions |

The Club now known as the Floreat Surf Life Saving Club was first formed by a band of young men in 1947 under the name of North City Surf Life Saving Club.
Prior to 1947, members of the City of Perth club occasionally patrolled Floreat Beach, then known as Wembley or North City Beach. The members misbehaving or being slack in carrying out club duties did this patrolling as a punishment detail - City members called it the Sahara.
